President Donald Trump on Thursday, seeming to try to defend some perplexing remarks he made at a fundraiser about trade with Canada. Tweeting, we do have a Trade Deficit with Canada, as we do with almost all countries (some of them massive). There's one problem with this statement, the US has a trade surplus with Canada.

Trump's tweet coming after the Washington Post reported that the president boasted to donors in Missouri that he had just assumed a deficit existed and insisted on it in a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau. The newspaper quoted the president as saying, he told Trudeau that the US ran a deficit with Canada despite not knowing whether or not that was the case.
