We got along actually quite well, but we disagreed on things.>> Trump's new man, Mike Pompeo. Reuters' Josh Smith says he's expected to take a more forceful tone over nuclear talks.>> For most of his tenure, Rex Tillerson was seen as somewhat out of sync with Trump when it came to North Korea.
When Tillerson raised the prospect of speaking to North Korea, Trump often derided talks as a waste of time. Now that talks between the United States and North Korea appear possible, it appears that Trump is interested in Pompeo as someone who will more closely represent his interests.>> The shake up could put Pyongyang off meeting.
At a security conference last July, Pompeo suggested a regime change might be an option for North Korea. And on Sunday he warned when it came to nuclear talks, there was no relief in sight.>> The pressure will continue to mount on North Korea.>> Given that North Korea has yet to fully confirm or explain its invitation to speak to Trump.
There remains a lot of uncertainty about whether the talks between Washington and Pyongyang believe it will happen. The shake-up now only adds to the general uncertainty.>> The dismissal has prompted dismay in Asia, China's foreign minister on Wednesday hailing Tillerson's efforts to develop relations while the Japanese foreign minister described Tillerson as a frank, trustworthy counterpart.
