new revelations about the sex scandal involving former house speaker Dennis Hastert he was convicted last year of a financial crime in a hush money scheme but few details were known at the time court documents filed Friday however showed the extent of the accusations Hastert agreed to pay as much as three and a half million dollars to keep quiet allegations that he sexually abused a fourteen year old victim decades ago federal prosecutors said that double the amount the former leader of the house admitted to paying in cash , and prosecutors say that teenager wasn't it only victim accusing Hastert of molesting several boys back in the nineteen sixties and seventies , time he was a high school teacher and coach in his home state of Illinois the statue of limitations has expired on prosecuting Hastert but the alleged abuses but he may still face jail time is due to be sentenced later this month for the original charge of withdrawing one point seven million dollars from the bank and small amount to avoid bank reporting that a federal crime
