nd race against time for Afghanistan's security forces gearing up to fight the Taliban alone as NATO commission winds down today there are around ten thousand US forces on the ground working as trainers and advisers but under current plans that number will happen by the start of next year and the training program , strategy behind schedule , Washington is now taking a second look at the timeframe underground traders say they're not going to be able to fix all the problems they see Afghanistan's fledgling forces are crippled by corruption in the upper ranks and rank and file soldiers are regularly going unpaid U.
